Beauty in adversity

I never liked the back garden being paved; but have conceded that maybe I am ‘getting past’ cutting the grass now. The red and grey tiles are easy enough on the eye, especially in the morning light. And I have flower-beds and containers to compensate.

Last year, in an effort to fill them all, I sowed and planted out a lot of flower seeds from Lidl's which came in a summer variety pack. Obviously one of these tiny seeds found itself a long-term home in the crack between two paving stones. And this week on Tuesday, the above miracle happened. Furthermore it continues to bloom bravely with the help of my admiration alone.

Enda McDonagh has written an article entitled: ‘Give beauty back’. And God graciously continues to surprise us, by doing just that.
