House of God

On Saturday we went to a seminar about St Elizabeth of the Trinity (1880-1906).  This young Carmelite nun died in Dijon from Addison’s Disease –about which little was known at the time.  She was recently cannonised by Pope Francis.   In her childhood she heard that Elizabeth means ‘House of God’; and from an early age she decided that her mission was to embody the Trinity.  “I have found my Heaven on earth, since Heaven is God, and God is in my soul”.  Thus her message is very simple:

Let yourself  be loved.”

It is a good message for the world at Christmas, and for each one of us, as we rush around trying to ‘do’ more things. Achievement is closer than we often imagine, if we turn inwards occasionally and just believe the good news.  At this time of year it’s easier to start with a baby!
